Save The Nation Program 2010: Arsenic Free Water For All is an initiative of UDERC, Sakano Lab Tokyo Institute of Technology to provide access to arsenic free water in rural and urban areas of Pakistan. Japanese scientists linked with this program have been working to solve the water problems in Kasur for more than 10 years. This research project was started upon the invitation of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, (Late) Malik Meraj Khalid in January 1997. With continuous research and development, today UDERC is able to introduce Fuji Arsenic Treatment Unit (ATU) based on arsenic removal technology of ADI Inc. Canada. Research was conducted by using arsenic removal media in water of different cities and MediaG2R was found efficient to achieve the WHO standard for arsenic (10 ppb) in drinking water. The advantage of this media is that it works up to pH level of 8.5.
UDERC has started Save the Nation Program (STN2010) for the provision of Arsenic-free water. Under this program one million arsenic treatment units will be installed in Pakistan by the year 2010.
UDERC welcomes NGOs/CSO/CBOs/ CCBs/cooperative societies of residential schemes in urban areas and other welfare organizations to join this program as our development partners.
Micro financing schemes are also available to support NGOs. Under this scheme organizations affiliated with Save the Nation Program can avail equal financial support to purchase arsenic treatment units in their project areas.
